The technology behind the O3Fresh was developed during the major outbreak of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) in China in 2003. SARS is an often lethal and highly infectious virus.
The SARS virus presented supremely challenging problems in light of its highly infectious capacity and ability to mutate. Ozone, because of its special biological properties and practical attributes made it an ideal candidate to fight the SARS virus. For over 40 years ozone had been used to neutralise bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites in water based treatments. These attributes were harnessed into the technology to purify domestic water supplies and food where the SARS virus was prevailant.
